Horn fight date soon

-

THE announcement on when Tim Tszyu will take on Jeff Horn at Townsville is looming and expected “within the next couple of weeks”. The fight was originally set to take place on April 22 at Queensland Country Bank Stadium before the coronavirus pandemic halted the highly anticipated bout.

Tszyu’s manager Matt Rose was confident a decision would be made soon and that Townsville would remain the venue. But he said crowds could be a factor in what date was decided as current guidelines for fan attendance to sporting fixtures would not suit the significance of the fight.

Davison’s agony

Dual Bathurst champion Will Davison has opened up on the moment he felt his “world collapse” after losing his

Supercars seat and is unsure if he will be able to watch when racing returns this weekend.

Faced with the prospect of not being on the Supercars grid for the first time since 2005, Davison expected the reality of his shock exit to hit home as the V8s roared back into action at Sydney Motorsport Park. Davison became a casualty of the COVID19 economic fallout when his Ford team 23Red Racing pulled the pin on the 2020 season in May after the loss of its major sponsor.

The timing was particularly cruel given Davison’s impressive start to the year in his Mustang, sitting fourth in the standings after the opening round in Adelaide.

Connor to head MCC

Former England women’s captain Clare Connor has become the first woman to be named president of the Marylebone Cricket Club. Nominated by current president Kumar Sangakkara, Connor will take up the role in October 2021, pending approval by the club’s members. Sri Lankan Sangakkara will likely remain in the role for a second 12-month spell because of the impact of COVID-19.

10 races for ‘legit’ F1
