Trespassin­g charge

TWO girls have been charged with trespassin­g after they were allegedly spotted by neighbours casing a Mooroobool house. The pair were allegedly seen accessing the backyard of a Hayward St home on Monday night and looking inside the windows of the house and a vehicle.

Vehicle on fire

A RAVENSHOE man was lucky to escape his vehicle when it caught fire along Kennedy Highway on Monday afternoon. The driver was towing a trailer carrying stock when he noticed smoke coming from under the bonnet so stopped and disconnect­ed the vehicle before a “quick thinking” farmer used his tractor to push the burning shell from the road.

Pop-Up Show

THE Atherton showground­s will come alive on the weekend with the 2020 Pop-Up Show moving in for three days. There will be food stalls, rides, sideshow alley and show bags. The 2020 PopUp Show will be on from 10am to 8pm Friday and Saturday and from 8am to 4pm on Sunday.

Reporter farewelled

A MEMORIAL service for former Cairns Post journalist, Duncan Paterson, will be held today in Innisfail. The service for the wellrespec­ted reporter, who lived in Flying Fish Point, will be held at the Chapel of Blacks Funerals Crematoriu­m, 18 Scullen Ave, Innisfail, from 10.30am. Duncan is survived by his wife, Mary, and children Duncan, Andrew, Rowena and Gilbert.

Woman recovering

A 64-YEAR OLD woman who fell from a balcony on the Esplanade is in a stable condition. The woman fell from a ledge of the Global Backpacker­s hostel above Rattle n’ Hum Bar and Grill at 7.51pm on Saturday.
