On coronavirus

-

Is the state of Victoria being run by buffoons? You would think at this stage that all planes departing Melbourne would have everyone at least temperature checked, anyone with an elevated temperature is not permitted to fly and COVID-19 tested. Even worse, they arrive in NSW and no-one there to temperature check either. How are we expected to control the spread if a few simple checks are completely overlooked? Not good enough health departments of both states.

Saw a great shirt recently that read: COVID-19 just tested positive for fraud. Simply superb.

Steve, Westcourt

Not sure that I can share the excitement of welcoming an “influx of visitors” to our region (CP, 09/07). We have kept ourselves safe from COVID-19 here in the Far

North. As a local I will now be avoiding the tourist hot spots until we see what happens in a few weeks time. It seems too soon.

Ric, Brinsmead. Look in the mirror and be grateful it’s not you on a ventilator in a hospital somewhere.

John Pratt (CP, 09/07). Read page 14 (CP, 09/07), try to absorb that two ultimate Greenies, in Michael Shellenberger and Michael Moore, now agree on the sham that is renewable energy and that the “extinction rebellion” campaign is a hoax. Also that so-called “renewable energy” is doing far more harm than good. Robert, Earlville

No surprise to see Peta Credlin exposing the views of an American environmental and energy commentator. It’s not a first as Shellenberger, with no scientific credentials, has been doing so for past 15 years. No one is listening, the large energy and financial institutions are investing in renewable energy worldwide at record pace.

Realist, Cairns

On the Global Tourism Hub. Surely there is still a few more trips to MGM Grand in Las Vegas to see out the dream for the Queensland Labor elite. Business class by the taxpayers of course.

Kev, Palm Cove

John Pratt (CP, 09/07). Did you know the “1000 clean energy jobs at Kidston” are just while it’s being built? They’re temporary jobs. Only a handful of staff will be needed to run it.

Ric, Brinsmead (CP, 09/07) Unless the full-time firefighters are going to do full-time hazard reduction burning there’s no point hiring them.

Karen, Kanimbla

With democracy now thousands of years old, how did highly-paid public servants manage to stuff up a council election (CP, 09/07)? Please tell us someone will be sacked over it. Joanne, Manunda

After criminal youth complete farm stay, will they be given opportunity for life long jobs, like Baby Boomers had, when crime was minimal, building roads, railways, dams and power stations? I very much doubt it.
