Multi-vehicle crash

THREE people were taken to hospital after a multi-vehicle crash on the Gillies Range Road near Vico St, Gordonvale.

A QAS spokeswoma­n said two of the patients involved in the crash had suffered head injuries, while the third was taken to hospital with no obvious injuries on Monday afternoon. A fourth occupant was assessed and declined transport.

Drug, weapon charges

A 20-YEAR-old Flying Fish Point man will face court next month after he was allegedly found in possession of a taser, a quantity of cannabis and drug parapherna­lia during a raid of his home.

Police searched a Feldt Street address about 7am on Saturday. The man was charged with unlawful possession of a category R weapon and various drug related offences. He is scheduled to appear in Innisfail Magistrate­s Court on August 10.

Clocked 40km/h over

POLICE have issued a stern warning to motorists after a man was busted driving more than 40km/h over the speed limit on the Cassowary Coast. A 38-yearold Springwood man was allegedly busted travelling at 142km/h in a 100km/h zone on the Bruce Highway, Midgenoo, on Sunday. He was issued with a $1245 fine and received eight demerit points, along with a preimpound­ment and a high-speed suspension notice after being intercepte­d by Innisfail Road Policing Unit officers.

Truck, cars collide

A SEMI-TRAILER collided with two vehicles on the Mulligan Highway near Mount Molloy on Monday afternoon. At 3.45pm, emergency services were called to the crash. No injuries or entrapment in any of the vehicles were reported and the crash site was cleared at 5.10pm.

New access at college

INNISFAIL State College has new access and exit points to make it safer for students, including alteration­s to access roads and footpaths, new signs and reconfigur­ation of the school’s carpark.
