Sunday’s stableford competition was sponsored by Mungalli Dairy and we thank them again for their continuing support especially as they may be going to give us a hand with the new shirts. Even though the weather left a bit to be desired today we still had over 20 players competing for converted Mungalli Dairy vouchers, despite the inclement weather there were still some pretty good scores.

In the men, the best of these was Wayne Crowley with a handy 38 points, well done Crowls a good effort considering the day. Second place on 35 or 36 (not sure which) was Bruce Hunter, it would not be a golf day without a countback, but today’s was easy being a stableford, brothers Grant Miller and Warrick Howwarth both finished with 32 points but Grant couldn’t maintain the pace he set in the first nine and Warrick managed to pip him in the home straight.

The ladies struggled with the conditions today but Tracey Dickinson with 30 points took the honours from Alicia English.

The captains today were told from now on, a Neatest the Pin on the third shot for the ladies, was not on, as putting to win this was not the idea of this competition, which by the way, was won by Alicia English. (Thank heavens she didn’t sink the putt.)

Nearest the Pins for the men were won by visitOr Marty Ots on 5/14, Bob Collyer won both 1/10 and second shot on 6/15 a good thing some part of his game was working.

Our two visitors today, Peter Watt and Marty Ots from Half Moon Bay Club enjoyed the day and were very complimentary regarding the course and greens, you’re welcome any time guys.

Next week is the BCF Innisfail three Ball Medley Ambrose, it’s a visitors day so get your team there at 9am for 9.30am see ya.

Just News: A bit of disappointing news at the last meeting was that Bendigo Bank who withdrew their competition sponsorship a while back were now not continuing their tee advertising, we have asked them to reconsider, but if you are in the bank you might mention that you are disappointed.

July’s Monthly Medal was taken out by Peter Karius. Jim Robinson pipped Prudence Wright for runner-up in a countback. Shane Soper is having a purple patch at the moment taking the Gross on a countback from Danny Bradley.

Next Sunday we will play the postponed April medal. Don’t forget to nominate for the first round of the Match play on Sunday, July 26. We need 16 players, so first in best dressed. Also get your teams for the Tableland Challenge to Tarnia ASAP. This will be at Ravenshoe, August 2.

A big thank you to all supporters who turned up for the restart of our Social nights last Friday. Also a huge thank you to those from the community who stepped in to help out on the night. C u @ the 19th
