A new lease of life for centre

-

AS work gets into full swing on the $176 million Cairns Convention Centre upgrade, new images and details of the project have been revealed.

The artist impressions show a striking makeover that will give those at the centre selling conference or convention space compelling reasons to persuade organisers to hold their event in Cairns.

The new spaces provide an extra 10,000sq m of room. The existing centre is being refurbished first and will be available for use from March 2021 while the extension will be open for business from early 2022.

The highlight is the new Trinity level which brings the region’s tropical environment inside and will give delegates an opportunity to enjoy the destination while inside.

With beautiful views, the Trinity Room is ideal for gala dinners and large cocktail functions. The room is able to host up to 500 people. The large pre-function space and the outdoor Trinity Terrace has a stunning vista over Trinity Inlet.

The outdoor area is designed for cocktail functions, lunches or unique events to take advantage of the city’s tropical weather.

The centre has also revealed a new logo incorporating the Great Barrier Reef and the Wet Tropics rainforest to highlight the only destination in the world where the rainforest meets a reef.

The new tagline, Passion is in our Nature, represents not only the Cairns Convention Centre team, but the spirit of the people of Cairns.

The award-winning centre has always punched above its weight and the $176 million investment can only enhance its reputation on the world stage.
