Decision time
POLITICAL stormtrooper Jackie Trad has cunningly thrown a hand grenade into the LNP election campaign by smoking out opposition “leader” Deb Frecklington to make a definitive decision on voluntary assisted dying/euthanasia legislation.
Since effectively supporting the state sanctioned murder of people who don’t have a choice to live or die by allowing a conscience vote on abortion of unborn babies up to and beyond 22 weeks of pregnancy, she now has to make a definitive decision on allowing people who do have a choice to life or death, their right to choose a dignified/compassionate death at a time of their choosing.
The LNP needs to stand beside the overwhelming majority of Queenslanders and show genuine commitment to this proposed law change once and for all and stop timidly sitting on the fence behind smoke and mirrors trying to avoid reform in this area.
This is when leaders lead and pretenders fall behind the “party policy” smoke screen as a form of excuse not to lead. Alan Benn, Kamerunga and necessary dollar is ruling the world and especially the tourism business in Queensland. Recent letters and text messages in the Cairns Post all uphold my statement.
Why else would we have to go into lockdown for months, and then after all the hard work of being in isolation, we are asked to welcome all and sundry to our place? The almighty dollar.
Victorians especially, who can only blame themselves, with street marches and the craving for the dollar, for their dilemma at the moment.
Street marches, which were said to be illegal, but allowed to happen, hotels and restaurants allowed large numbers to attend. In Queensland at least our Premier has attempted to keep at a reasonable level.
She has also succumbed to the pressure of the business community and the almighty dollar.
We will find out one day and I hope the outcome will be all good.
We in Queensland are happy to enjoy our mild winters, which also contribute to the halting of this terrible virus.
Come on Queensland, let’s not be lured by the almighty dollar and let’s stay safe for as long as it takes.
