A NEW childcare centre expected to open next month in Cairns is focusing on green spaces, arts, nutrition and wellness to bolster learning for the under-fives.

Genius Childcare Brinsmead, a sister centre to the Genius Childcare Clifton Beach centre, is preparing to open at 83 Loridan Drive.

It will offer care to children from birth to age five, and later after school care.

Centre manager Terri Nelson said the Genius centre used a comprehensive early learning program unlike anything she’d ever seen in 17 years working in the industry.

“The curriculum is something special, there’s a big focus on outdoor learning with a garden guru program, a sport programs and a wellness program,” she said.

“There’s also going to be a music and creative arts program, a library program and a nutrition program.”

The wellness program involves yoga activities, the nutrition program is focused on cooking nutritional meals, and the library program will allow families to swap books.

The opening of this centre will create at least 20 positions for potential employees, including roles in education, early childcare and hospitality.

Ms Nelson said interviews for positions would start this week.
