DAD ROCK DRIVE IN

Australian band Hockey Dad release their new album Brain Candy this Friday, and are even releasing their own brand of breakfast cereal. They’re doing two Alive at the Drive-In shows this weekend and if you can’t attend one of those, they will live stream their apocalyptical, zombiethemed drive-in show this Friday at 8.15pm on their YouTube channel. If you’re in NSW go to hockeydadbraincandy.com to try and order their cereal.

WELCOME BACK RON

Ron S. Peno, singer with legendary Australian rock band Died Pretty, overcame a major health issue last year which kept him off the road. But he’s back on deck with his other band The Superstitions. They’ll be playing a paid live stream gig from Melbourne’s MEMO

Music Hall on Sunday, August 9, from 7pm, filmed professionally by the team behind RocKwiz. Tickets are $12 (solo) or $20 (groups) and are available now from memomusichall.com.au

WRLD EXCLUSIVE

From 8pm tonight on Triple J’s Live at the Wireless hear what was US rapper Juice WRLD’s final headline show. Recorded at Melbourne’s Festival Hall, the gig features the late rapper’s hits Robbery, Fine China and Lucid Dreams and Fine China. You’ll hear him tell fans to do whatever they want to do in life, “whether you want to be a rapper, actor, doctor, lawyer, whatever … so go out there, put in the work and do that sh-t. Now, go do great things.”

LUCK OF THE IRISH

If you like David Gray and Damien Rice, you might enjoy the work of Irish singer songwriter Dermot Kennedy. After last year’s debut album Without Fear, he’s playing a special show with his full live band at the Natural History Museum in London. It’s being live streamed around the world, and is a one off that will never be seen again. You can buy a ticket to watch it this Friday at 8pm. Tickets start at $24 from dermotkennedy.com

ON THE FRINGE

Melbourne Fringe Festival has gone online and this weekend launches its Virtual Common Rooms. There’s a virtual comedy quiz, actual live comedy from the brilliant Zoe Coombs Marr, live DJ work from Mr McClelland’s Finishing School and more. Tickets from melbournefringe.com.au
