Here’s my solution for people who want to flout the COVID-19 safety protocols. Have their photos put up in every shopping centre, pubs, clubs and every other venues to inform the general public of the potential health risks they carry. If they were to be shunned by society by publicly shaming them then maybe involuntar­y self-isolation would be the result. As for the stress to their health that this might cause, but I think they gave up the right to my sympathy when they put my family in danger by wilfully bringing their infection into the public domain. I think Victorian people and NSW people are being selfish and self-centred. They should all go home. Respect Queensland or you should all face the full force of the law. This virus is deadly, it’s not a joke. Go home to where you come from please. Nicole, Mareeba

On COVID-19 (CP, 30/7). Remember the good old days of “15 days to flatten the curve”? We’re up to day 134 now, so is the curve flat yet? Or is Cairns Hospital still swamped with COVID patients? Oh, that’s right, it never was.

Morrison is using the COVID-19 breakout for political pointscori­ng. Yesterday he called the outbreak down south “not a second wave, but a Victorian wave”. We want the PM to work with the states to protect the nation, not cheap shots and finger-pointing.
