The famous names who line up locally

-

Tyson Milne – son of St Kilda champion Stephen

Milne, son of star goalkicker Stephen, spent time training with St Kilda’s senior squad in December 2018 through the pre-season period.

He was eligible to be drafted in 2019, but missed out, after playing with the Sandringham Dragons in the TAC Cup competition.

Milne Snr booted 574 goals from 275 AFL matches and was prolific inside 50.

In 2018, former Dragons coach Jeremy Barnard couldn’t help but notice the similarities between Tyson and his famous father.

Tyson played his first game for Port Douglas’ reserves on Saturday down at Fretwell Park after just coming out of isolation.

He kicked two goals, was named in the best players, and is unlikely to be needed in the reserves for much longer, likely to be elevated to the real stuff.

Jai Florent – brother of Sydney young gun Oliver

Like Milne, Jai played his first game in AFL Cairns last weekend, kicked a goal and was named in the Crocs’ reserves’ best.

Last year, the Sydney Swans were considering using a rookie draft position on him.

Rising star Ollie Florent’s younger brother Jai was in the mix to be selected by the club after he trained with Sydney after flying from Melbourne following the completion of his school studies at Mentone Grammar.

Florent played just four games in the NAB League last year with the 179cm forward seen as a long-term prospect.

With no local options now in Melbourne because of coronavirus restrictions, Florent was a late inclusion at Port Douglas as well.

Rob Petracca – brother of Melbourne star Christian Petracca

There were some last month who said Christian was the best player in the AFL.

That is a little premature

Main picture: MARTIN REDDY but there is no doubt he is a gun.

His brother Rob recently lodged a transfer from the Eastern Football League to Centrals Trinity Beach.

Rob is the oldest of the three brothers and usually has a run around for North Ringwood in the Eastern Football League.

With the new border restrictions, it remains to be seen how much we will see of Petracca at Crathern Park this year, with a northern move unlikely. But a clearance has been lodged.

Adam Tipungwuti – cousin of Essendon’s Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti

The Cairns City Lions recruit is in his first year at Holloways Beach.

After training with North Melbourne over the summer, many thought he would join his famous cousin on an AFL list.

Tipungwuti has played two games for Lions, kicking three goals across them.

Hayden King – brother of AFLW footballer Elisha King

Elisha has done great things over the past couple of years in North Melbournes AFLW side.

Brother Hayden is a regular in Manunda’s seconds side, playing three games in 2020 and being named in their best on one occasion.
