Skyrail is willing and cable
AFTER a prolonged closure due to a severe downturn courtesy of the pandemic, Cairns’ biggest rainforest attraction will reopen in time for the school holidays.
Skyrail Rainforest Cableway will open on weekends from September 5 and from Thursday to Sunday during the school holidays.
General manager Richard Berman-Hardman said it had been a difficult time for everyone involved with the business. Staff had been working on maintenance and upgrades since the doors closed to visitors in late March.
“The past five months have been the most challenging period our family-owned business has ever endured and it’s been particularly stressful for our staff,” he said.
“Opening makes no real commercial sense as we won’t be making a profit for some time but the symbolism of reopening Skyrail is vital for our team and for the wider community.”
In preparation for reopening, Skyrail has developed an extensive COVID-Safe plan and introduced virus safety measures.
Families, individuals and groups of people who live together will travel together in their own freshly sanitised gondolas.
In addition, new check-in, ticketing and queueing measures will ensure adequate social distancing. https://www.telstra.com.au/ coverage-networks/our-coverage
