Call for Mosby encore

Coach wants teen to create another storm

AFTER a breakout performance off the bench for the Northern Pride Reef Kings last week, teenage wrecking ball Munro Mosby has been challenged by Intrust Super Cup coach Ty Williams to have the same impact when he starts against the Pride Giants.

The Edmonton Storm junior has been named at centre for the Reef Kings in the fourth round of the Lightning Challenge, to be held at Stan Williams Park on Saturday.

“He came in late last week and was impressive when he came on and gets a chance to start this week,” Williams said.

“He’s a big physical kid and he's got a big body, which is good – he would be pushing 90kg.

“The thing with our juniors, and I was talking to (under-20s coach Dave Scott) about it after the game on the weekend, is that, with Munro, he was very good when he came off the bench and he made a really good impact, but what we’re looking for from him now is consistency.

“He needs to back it up this week, and I think that’s the true indication of a good footballer – whether you can do it week in, week out.”

Williams said the Lightning Challenge was a learning experience for the Pride’s younger players.

“They’re getting an understanding of how to prepare,” Williams said.

“What they’ve picked up from the ISC boys is that the way that they play is the way that they train, and that’s been a massive bonus for us.”

Terrence Casey-Douglas Bernard Lewis and Gideon Gela-Mosby are set to miss the clash with niggling injuries, while Cephas Chinfat and Shawn Bowen return for their first Challenge appearances.

Tyreyce Chambers will miss the rest of the series with a wrist/forearm fracture.
