Show some leadership

-

IN 1942 US president Truman had on his desk a wooden sign saying, “The buck stops here”.

Let’s fast forward to today when apparently the buck stops at the chief health officer’s desk, who is a bureaucrat, not an elected official. She is an adviser. Elected leaders have every right to listen to advisers, but then make educated decisions for the best interests of the majority. We have had a few major medical dramas worldwide over a long time and we have learned to live with them and this will be no different. But to watch thousands of restaurants, coffee shops etc going down is a bit much. In the end the elected leader has to make a call in the best interest of the state.
