Thiem takes the win

DOMINIC Thiem has become the first man in 71 years to overcome a two-set deficit in a US Open final — and the first Austrian to win a major title in New York.

The world No 3 was forced to the brink by German Alexander Zverev, who was also chasing his first major title. Thiem literally limped over the line, defeating his good friend Zverev 2-6 4-6 6-4 6-3 7-6 (6).
