Men’s Club Championships. “A” Grade Club singles was won again by Colin Kelly from Steve Henson. Get Bowling at Edge Hill again on Tuesday afternoon at 1pm. Tuesday and Wednesday Night at 7pm. Currently opening Tuesday to Thursday at 3pm-Late, Friday to Sunday from 12noon till Late. Now open Saturday and Sunday Lunch and Dinner. Meals served in the Bistro Nightly from 5:30pm but please make a booking due to some COVID restrictions.

Tully. G’Vale d Tully. Great Job guys. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to put in results of the Cairns Classic 4’s for the games that were played on Sun 13th Sept. My apologies to all teams who competed on the day. I’m sure the Cairns members will make sure the results will be published. It was a great day had by all with a little bit of drizzle around , but not enough to put a dampener on the day. The men and women that played on the day showed just what good little troopers they were. Thanks to all teams, Umpire, Greenkeeper, Bar Staff, Terri and kitchen helpers and the Sponsors on the day and to the responsible Covid 19 regulators and all volunteers who made it a healthy and safe environment for the players and visitors. Champion of Club Champions: A grade Singles held at Yungaburra 9am Sat 12 Sept. With Mick DeVries (Tully) playing the finals with Paul Huntress (Gordonvale). On a new green with a breeze and changing conditions made it a lead changing game. One would make a break but the other would pull him back and go ahead, all the way to the last ends. Mick on 16 Paul 23 then 2 ends later Mick on 21 and Paul still on 23 with the 2nd last end 23 together with Mick winning the last end 25 to 23. Congratulations to both players for a good game and especially Mick DeVries as 2020 A Grade Champion.

A few showers during the second session of the game of Monday was a challenge to the sixteen players including two novice players on the covered and lit green last Monday. At the end of the day the winning team was drawn as John Frisch and new bowler Maureen. Overall everyone enjoyed their afternoon playing mixed social bowls. Programme commences at 1.15pm when the cards are drawn, then the game commences at 1.30pm and continues to 4.30pm when the winning team is selected and a raffle conducted. Players are encouraged to bring their own hot drinks to supplement the sandwiches and cake for afternoon tea the club provides at a small cost additional to the green fee. No aggressive play is encouraged as we are all dedicated to playing social bowls with fellow bowlers of varying ages. Further information is available by contacting our selector Rosemary on mobile 0409624623 before 1.00pm when the selection period has concluded. Everyone from any club is welcome to join us and wearing of club bowls attire is encouraged. Bowls can be provided by the club for visiting bowlers. See you next Monday.
