Listen to the scientists Quarantine hub danger Singing different strains
CALIFORNIA braces for more pain (CP, 18/09). As the west coast of the US suffers through a catastrophic summer of bushfires, the east coast is battered by hurricanes, both made worse by climate change.
Let’s hope those who are suffering will listen to the scientists and demand climate action when they vote in November.
Around the world every day we are witnessing global warming; it’s time for people to elect politicians who understand the science and will act to prevent more harm to the planet.

GIVEN the coronavirus outbreaks that have clustered at hospitals, it’s highly irresponsible and dangerous to expose the only major hospital for hundreds of kilometres to such risk.
It’s also difficult to recruit medical staff to such areas already. Townsville, though still risky, would be a better choice.

WAYNE Morellini (WP 19/9). Could you please explain your reference to a bad strain of the virus?
It’s the first time I’ve seen/heard mention of this in any media.
The latest numbers of those affected by coronavirus in Australia after testing are 27,000, your 790,000 number is put into question.
You certainly can’t quote numbers from other countries as a comparison.
The percentage figures you quote for the two countries appear to be inflated as the World Health Organisation numbers are UK deaths 41,732, Italy deaths 35,678 and certainly doesn’t equate to your suggested 3.1 million in Australia.
The latest numbers of deaths in Australia are 842, these are the facts.
Now if you wish to follow up deaths as a result of mental health problems of all ages in Australia as a result of the actions in treating coronavirus, that may open your eyes.
No state, territory or federal senior health officer seems to consider those and if they are, it’s certainly not being mentioned/quoted in any media.
