Friday Comps – 9 Holes

The Wednesday Sporters was cancelled due to weather, but the members were able to get out for a hit on Friday.

Results 15/1

1st – J Cockle 19pts

2nd – R Lehtsalu 17pts

Saturday Sponsored Comps – 18 Holes

It was a shake up for members playing a stroke round mid-month & given the conditions there were some great scores for the day. 35 members got out for a hit, great to see good numbers on the course.

Andrew Rose shot out of the gates with an impressive 69 off the stick (1 under, 68 nett) to set a commanding lead, one shot clear of Paul Tattam & Rauno Lehtsalu 69 nett.

The afternoon groups tried their best to get close to Rosey, but could only manage a 70 nett tie with Ian Street, Kev Walsh, Ian Saunderson & our Junior Caine Cockle.

Great effort to all that played!

Results 16/1 – Hoad Business Developments Stroke

1st – A Rose 68 nett

2nd – P Tattam 69 nett c/b

MILLAA MILLAA

A day at golf like today, makes you realise why we pay the big bucks to live in this beautiful part of the world. Club member Bruce Hunter sponsored todays 4 Ball Best Ball and the course was full of enthusiastic players wanting to take advantage of the day and the prizes on offer.

From the talent that was there I knew that good scores were a given and the possibility of a count back definitely on the cards, in the wash up twelve teams all scored between 37 and 42 points which is why a count back was required to separate the two top teams.

But as they say there can only be one winner and in this case with 42 points it was the team of Ash Healy and Graham Suffield with a second nine of 22 points. In second with a second nine of 21 was Karl Pickering and Kelvin Groves, bad luck guys 42 should have been a winner.

I am told that the winning team today didn’t pick up the ticket wagered with the third team of Don McHardie and visitor Dave Morrison who finished a point behind them, don’t know how you managed that but well done.

Our visitor Dave Morrison also won nearest the pin on 4/14 and number 8, Grant Miller was the nearest on 1/10, Graham Suffield’s second shot was a winner on 8/17 and Warwick Howarth’s second shot was the best on 3/12.

Enough takers for three weekly draws this week and they were, Graham Suffield, Grant Miller and one other that I didn’t write down, sorry about that. The members draw did go off this week and Kelvin Groves is now $90 better off, well back to $10 next week.

Speaking of next week we some how missed the last Sunday in January when doing the calendar so we will have to move some things around but be assured it will be a great days golf, nine for nine thirty see ya there.

Just News: A big shout to Trevor and his team, especially Grant Miller and Les Taylor for getting the course in such good shape despite the rain we have had. However because of the weather there will be a full week ahead of us, the mowing won’t be a problem but the gully/creek on 3/12 will be a head ache that’s for sure.

We are informed the bore will be up and running this week which will get the grants people off our case, we have received the new bearings for the snake mower’s rollers and will be fitted straight away.

RAVENSHOE

No results of today’s game at hand at the time of going to press!

A big thank you to all the locals who attended our first Social night for the year. Good to see you back. The Australia Day Quiz was also well attended. The Lamingtons were the winning team on the night.

Next Sunday is a 4 Ball Best Ball with a draw for partners. C u @ the 19th
