NRL to probe sex tape scandal

PARRAMATTA halfback Mithcell Moses insists a NRL integrity unit sex tape investigation involving the Eels won’t be a “distraction” for his side.

The news of the investigation involving one of the club’s players broke while the Eels were flying to Darwin for Friday night’s clash against the Brisbane Broncos.

The untimely headlines meant that Eels were greeted by a sizeable media pack waiting to get a glimpse of the players following the news.

“I don’t think it is any distraction at all, the club will work through it… whatever they decide, whatever happens, happens. We are here to play footy and that’s our focus this weekend,” Moses said.

Around 100 members and corporate sponsors also travelled with the team from Sydney to the Northern Territory.

Forward Shaun Lane said the four day camp would only galvanise the already “tight knit” group.

Earlier on Wednesday, a video emerged showing a man and woman engaging in sex in a public toilet.

The video lasts just five seconds and was filmed over the toilet door by a bystander.

Parramatta issued a statement confirming it was aware of a video involving one of its players, saying it was “illegally filmed without consent”.

“The club has become aware of a video involving one of its players,” the statement read. “We understand that those on the video have been illegally filmed by another person without consent and that an attempt has been made to distribute the video to media outlets and on social media platforms.

“The club has informed the NRL integrity unit and is taking the matter very seriously, particularly given the potential invasion of privacy of those involved.

“The club will not be making any further comment.”

Some rugby league officials are unsure whether having sex in a toilet is technically a breach of the rules.

If the man is identified as being a rugby league player, he faces potential sanction from the NRL.
