$20m for crime fight

Game on for spin off

- TIFFANY BAKKER

EARLY intervention programs for youths at risk of a life of crime will receive $20m in next Tuesday’s federal budget.

Assistant Minister for Community Safety Jason Wood said the boost would “assist young people at high risk from engaging in criminal or antisocial behaviour build resilience, cultural connections and job readiness skills”.

Another $10m will go to for grants for security infrastructure.

Mr Wood is under fire from Labor after he redirected funds to projects for religious organisations which had been ruled unsuitable or ineligible.

Opposition government accountability spokesman Pat Conroy accused Mr Wood of using the program to “fund his pet projects rather than the necessary projects that would contribute most to community safety”.

THE Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon, has unveiled its first official photos.

The highly anticipated series is set 300 years before the events that took place in Game of Thrones and tells the story of House Targaryen and the Targaryen civil war that became known as the “Dance of the Dragons”.

One of the pictures gives fans a first look at Princess Rhaenyra

Targaryen played by Emma D’Arcy and Prince Daemon Targaryen, played by Crown star Matt Smith. Both characters feature the same platinum blonde hair that fans will know from their descendant, the Mother of Dragons herself, Daenerys Targaryen.

It comes as Game of Thrones celebrated its 10th anniversary which was marked in Australia by a reunion featuring the cast on Foxtel. House of the Dragon will premiere on Foxtel in 2022.
