Austrian composer born in 1791, the youngest of two sons of composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and his wife Constanze. He wrote music in the Romantic style, heavily influenced by his father’s works. He died childless in 1844
JULY 27 GARRY DAVIS
Peace activist born Gareth Davis in 1921. A one-time Broadway actor who served as a bomber pilot in WWII, after the war he advocated for peace and a world government, renouncing his US citizenship and creating a World Passport. He died in 2013
JULY 28 BEATRIX POTTER
English writer, illustrator and conservationist born in 1866. She is best known for writing and illustrating the Peter Rabbit books, publishing the first in 1902. She died in 1943
JULY 29 DAVID WARNER
English actor born in 1941. He made his debut on stage in 1962 before breaking into films and
TV. He has appeared in films such as Titanic, Time Bandits, Tron, and The Omen and TV series Wallander.
JULY 30 MARIA ANNA MOZART
Musician born in 1751, the sister of Wolfgang, she was trained by her father to play harpsichord and became famous as a child prodigy, getting top billing until Wolfgang became more famous. She later became a music teacher and died in 1829
JULY 31 EVONNE GOOLAGONG
Tennis player born in 1951, into a Wiradjuri family in country NSW, she showed early promise as a player and was sent to Sydney to train. She won seven grand slam singles titles and seven doubles and mixed doubles.
AUGUST 1 PAT McDONALD
Australian actor born in 1921. She made her acting debut in Seven Little Australians in 1939, but was best known for playing the nosy apartment block resident Dorrie Evans in the 1970s TV soap opera Number 96. She died in 1990 of pancreatic cancer
