BUNDLES OF JOY

-

THROUGHOUT Term 4, students from Prep to Year 12 have been fundraising and collecting donations to give to the annual St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal.

Early in the term, the Junior Years Student Representative Council asked students to bring in donations for Christmas hampers and gold-coin donations to support our fundraisers. The response was overwhelming.

Mr Lee, who helped the Student Representative Council organise the fundraising, reported that the lunchtime fundraisers had raised $971.60. This is an amazing effort.

Along with the Student Representative Council fundraising, classes from across the College have had baskets in their classrooms.

The classes were encouraged to bring in food items and Christmas items that could be given to a family in need by St Vincent de Paul.

The response to this from the St Andrew’s Catholic College students was amazing. The classes from Prep to Year 12 filled over 100 baskets full of food and gifts!

Our Containers for Change Program, spearheaded by Mae Bolton, James Robb, Chloe Donnelly and Oliver Collins collected over 4000 containers in the second half of the year.

The money from this fundraising was donated to the Fred Hollows’ Foundation to help return sight to people in other countries and Australia who are may become blind.

Representatives from St Vincent de Paul came to our St Andrew’s Feast Day Mass on Friday in Week 8 to accept the fundraising money and they returned in Week 9 to collect the hampers.

The representatives from St Vincent de Paul said that they were overwhelmed by the generosity of St Andrew’s Catholic College and that many families would have a better Christmas because of this generosity.

We are proud of our College for supporting the St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal.

Our Student Council have been working hard to do many small things with great love this year.

We hope that this love is shared by Cairns families who may be doing it tough in 2021.
