Millaa Millaa

Sunday the 23rd was the Tobin 5 Star - TGT Trophy Day and The Silver Fox chose a Multiplier Medley Stableford, with a draw for partners.

There was a good turnout today and the weather and course were great, this resulted in some very impressive multiplier scores with everyone apologising to their partners prior to hitting off.

New member Dave Hay and his partner Gary Soper found their rhythm early and never looked back finishing with 67 points, this could have been a couple of points better if the easy putts had have dropped for both players.

Second and third were decided by a count back and Alan ( Happy) Hapgood claims he is the reason Ash Healy’s run of losing count backs is broken, with them getting 2nd with a 39 to 37 win on the back nine. This pushed Wayne Norris and Wayne Crowley back into 3rd, a good effort by both teams anyway as they both finished with 63 points.

The Nearest to the pins went to teams of Trevor Warrener and Bob Collyer on 1/10, Dave Hay and Gary Soper were nearest on 5/14 with Alan Hapgood and Ash Healy Healy winning the second shot nearest on 9/18. Enough tickets were sold to have five draws in the raffle and the winners were The Club thanks to Bruce Hunter, Warwick Howarth, Gary Soper, Wayne Crowley and Trevor Warrener with Trevor also picking up $30 in the members draw.

Next week is a 3 ball Ambrose, select your own team and is sponsored by Malanda Ampol, so get your team organized and see you next week.

GET YOUR NOMINATION IN FOR THE CENTRAL TYRE SERVICE WEEKEND on the 26th and 27th of November, call or text Bob on 0417749070 or email the club.

LAWN BOWLS

West Cairns TPI

The suggestion of hot and humid weather with possible thunder storms later did not deter 11 bowlers to play at West Cairns Bowls Club last Monday afternoon. At the end of the day, the winners were announced as the team led by Terry Ryan supported by Dawn Evans and Gwen Cory. Next Monday we are hoping more players will be able to play on the Gatton St carpet green which is covered with a roof that allows play in almost all weather conditions we endure. Amy registered lawn bowler can contact Rosemary, our selector, on 0409624623 before 11am next Monday to have their name included. Visitors are especially welcome who should provide additional information including the name of their parent club, position normally paid, and a mobile phone number to assist with the selection. Cards are called at 1.15pm with the game commencing at 1.30pm and concluding at 4.30pm. Afternoon tea is included in the green fee, and if needed club bowls are available. Almost all of our bowlers are retired and aggressive bowls are not encouraged as a result. A random draw of a playing card at the end of the day decides the “winning team” whose names are included in the press report. This could be you and we encourage you to join us on any Monday afternoon in the near future for an afternoon of friendly mixed social bowls.
