Life’s a beach at this FNQ retreat
Here’s what $3000 a night will get you in Port Douglas
A SUMPTUOUS property high up on Island Point Rd overlooking Four Mile Beach at Port Douglas can be rented from $3000 per night.
The four-bedroom property at 44 Island Point Rd was snapped up by boutique funds management pioneer Otto Buttula and wife Virginia in May this year for $5.375m.
It is now being offered as luxury accommodation by Spicers Retreats, which has 10 luxury retreats, hotels and lodges across Queensland and New South Wales.
Mr and Mrs Buttula sold the palatial ‘Trinity Beach Palace’ at 129 Vasey Esplanade for $5.5m in 2019.
The Port Douglas property is now called Villa Aman and offered as a luxury retreat as part of Spicers’ Private Collection.
It has a magnesium pool and has undergone a complete refurbishment completed in August this year, in a Spanish coastal style.
Tranquil ponds surround the house and master bathroom, filled with native fish and water lilies.
Deluxe beds have bespoke Egyptian cotton bed linens, as well as Bemboka blankets and towels.
A gourmet kitchen fit-out has been carried out under the guidance of Chef Nino Botha.
“Stunning artworks, generous sofas and beautiful furnishings will create a perfect relaxed luxury, holiday atmosphere in this architecturally designed home,” the Spicers website states.
“It is the perfect holiday hideaway for the most discerning of guests – perhaps a luxury family holiday home, executive corporate retreat or private celebratory getaway.”
It has a private driveway and gated entrance.
The home was on the market with Sotheby’s.
It was initially listed in 2019 when former Retail Food Group boss Tony Alford, who had bought it in 2017 for $3.9m, sought $6.5m.
Villa Aman is not the highest priced property ever sold in Port Douglas – that honour belongs to the former home of John Morris at 1-3 Wharf St which sold for $8.25m in December 2020.
Former AFL premiership player Fraser Brown bought the luxurious seaside escape.
