A lovely spring day with light winds provided good conditions for shooters. MOSSMAN AND DISTRICT RIFLE CLUB

Sat 19.11.22

Fine conditions with a medium mirage was the order for the day for the nine shooters that shoot the double 300m match.

F Std saw Norbert Schmidt first down and finishing with a nice 56.2, Bill Kromwyk followed and managed a 55.4, a despondent Carl Read struggled to finish with 49.2, Tom Baetscher with a comfortabl­e 55.2, John Brentson struggled also to come in with a 51.2, Brendan Delaney with a nice 54.2 and Rick Mischlewsk­i with a 48.0.

Sporting Hunter class saw Dave Williams shoot a nice 48.3 out of 50.

F Open: Neil Browning started with a 48.1. In the second round, the competitio­n always heats up and produces some better scores. F Std, Schmidt did well and shot a very nice 62.1, Kromwyk settled and finished with an impressive perfect score of 66.8 . Read improved and finished with a 58.1,

Baetscher finding some 4’s managed 57.2, Brentson lifted to finish with 60.3, Delaney improved to finish with 62.2 and Mischlewsk­i rallied for 62.4.

F Open, Browning doing better on this range to finish with 54.1.

Sporting Hunter, Williams shot a nice 54.2. The final scores:

Social Bowls will change time this week with Tuesday (3pm and 7pm), Wednesday night Self Selected Triples at 7pm. Saturday Social Bowls will still be played at 1pm from November 5th. President, Alf Strano organised a ham day for our Thursday social afternoon. 36 bowlers took part in a 2 games of 12 ends. Ham winners were the team of Bob Chaplain, Sam Pagano and Denis Ryan. Runners-up were the team of Andre Buck, Snow Clark and Richard Russell.

First game winners were the team of Albert Holder, Doug Juhas and Peter Broccardo.

All bowlers enjoyed a traditiona­l cane cutters smoko between games. Visitors and new members are most welcome.

WEST CAIRNS TPI

Another hot and humid day greeted fourteen of our dedicated lawn bowlers at the West Cairns Bowls Club covered green last Monday afternoon. Winners were Dot Kensdale, Gavin Nicholls and Max Harker. Our last playing day of the year will be Monday 12th December. The end of year breakup is on 19th December. We will recommence activities on Monday 9th January. As usual any player can join our group of social mixed bowlers by phoning selector Rosemary on mobile 0409624623 before 11.00am next Monday. All players should be present at the club house in Gatton St in plenty of time for the drawing of cards at 1.15pm. Play commences at 1.30pm for three hours with a break for afternoon tea.
