So, the amount of solar electricity is up by 24 per cent because of taxpayer funded subsidies, but have they made it work at night and on rainy days? If not, it’s just hastening the end of reliable electricity.

After the last three years, I have no faith in the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (CP, 13/04) and it seems out of character for them to suggest an action that would lower GP’s profitability while protecting Big Pharma’s profits. Should they be changing their name to Royal Australian College of Pharmaceutical Corporations? Patience, Yorkeys Knob

So the government is now getting high profile Indigenous athletes to support the yes vote in the upcoming referendum. Will these already wealthy people be doing this for free or is this just another endorsement but paid for by taxpayers’ money? If they are so passionate about the Voice any such payments should be donated to a charity of their choice. Teddy, Bungalow

It’s interesting to watch the Republican Party’s approach to social engineering in the US. You target minority groups, impose restrictions, reduce personal choice and freedoms, except when it comes to gun ownership. Apparently it’s fine with them if the biggest cause of childhood deaths in the US is through gun violence. Hard to believe that the US aspires to be the land of the free. Fortunately as the Morrison government lurched on its arch conservative downward spiral Australians called time.

Security guards can open-carry handguns to protect big businesses’ cash from criminals, but we can’t do the same to protect our lives against those same criminals. Double standard or what?

Re: Cairns Hospital eye clinic doctor, what a joke. People were there since 8am and you waltz in at 3pm. Have some respect for other people’s time. Auntie, Yorkeys Knob

I don’t know what’s worse: the mayor with 23 conflicts of interest, or the pitiful $250 fine.

Is it time for the federal government to consider culling the largest crocodiles in the Far North by big game safari hunters? The hunt to occur only in designated areas and the safari group to include a government official and a few local Indigenous people with an intimate knowledge of the area, plus drivers, cooks etc. Officials can identify and mark one or two reptiles per year for culling. This may bring some balance back into the explosion of crocodiles. GTHO Manunda

I feel very saddened for Geoff Guest. He is a good man, not young and has a heart condition – and has to contend with his property being vandalised and horses shot and mutilated. It doesn't seem that much if anything is being done to apprehend these cruel offenders. Pam, Bayview Heights
