Less than 11% of the Australian workforce are union members.

Yet the unions are the first port of call when the federal government wants to talk wages and entitlements. The media interview union leaders as if they represent the greater Australian workforce. They don’t. Time to rethink this strategy.

There is no point in placing people in housing they cannot afford. To pay for a house or apartment the amount paid cannot exceed more than 25-30 per cent of that households net income. Eg $700,000 loan at 7 per cent interest is $49,000 p.a or $942 pw. Which means that household would need to have a take home pay of $3100 per week.

Well said Tony (CP 26/4). I remember the days when police could actually police, there was definitely less crime. Now the softly softly approach to police powers is just a joke. I have nothing but respect for those that have to put up with the abuse in many forms to protect and serve despite criticism about their ineffectiveness. All the do gooders and diehard children’s rights activists (for youth crims) might change their tune if someone broke into their house and stole from them, or worse. Residents are scared 24/7 of if/when it will happen to them. This is not living, it’s just surviving at best. You do the crime, you should do the real time. Not get a smack on the wrist and excuse after excuse as to why they’ve turned out criminals. They know it’s wrong, I don’t care what ages they are, they know it’s wrong. And the community suffers day in, night out.

After a decade of coral bleaching that physicist Peter Rudd and Co have ignored, it’s certainly good news that in some areas the Great Barrier Reef given a small window of recovery has made some progress. But climate change is making these windows of recovery shorter.

Are there any other citizens in Australia apart from Australia’s First Nations people as that’s all you hear these days from the federal government. This is followed by allocations of extra millions of dollars to these people all funded by the taxpayers who are struggling to make ends meet. I believe this means more to come if the yes vote is successful on the Voice to parliament.

We’re now finding out that our navy is struggling to keep two Collins class submarines in active service, so Albo should stop this AUKUS charade.

Keira, Kanimbla

An amazing gesture by Perri Conti with her financing accommodation for young people. I hope the community get behind her and donate furniture and other essentials including air cons in working order.

Pam, Bayview Heights

Should have combined the Met Gala Ball with the Coronation.
