Stadium links with FQ

Futsal players will have access to more opportunities

-

Football Queensland’s affiliation with Redlynch Central Sports Stadium is set to link Cairns futsal to the state.

Redlynch Central Sports Stadium will become an affiliated Football Queensland (FQ) member as further investment is made into futsal in regional parts of the state, providing Cairns players with access to a variety of FQ resources. This affiliation will allow Football Queensland to offer futsal competitions in Far North Queensland for the first time which Redlynch Central Sports Stadium manager Karen Butterworth said would be an exciting opportunity to link futsal in Cairns with the rest of the state.

“We’re very excited to be involved with Football Queensland. It’ll provide a lot more opportunities for the junior players in the area; they’ll get tournaments they can go to, representative teams that they can aspire to and more,” Butterworth said.

“It’s definitely going to be good for the area with people coming and supporting the community; our winter team numbers are already up from last year which is a good thing.”

Football Queensland manager – Far North and Gulf Alex Srhoj said the affiliation would provide the region with a range of FQ services, from competition administration, marketing, referees, coaching courses and more.

“We are excited to work with the Redlynch Central Sports Stadium and to be able to branch out to help increase futsal programs and participation in the region,” Srhoj said.

“Football Queensland is now able to offer a futsal competition in Far North Queensland for the first time, which will allow us to share our range of futsal development opportunities more broadly.

“The stadium is outstanding, with three courts, dressing rooms, meeting rooms and a great location. We’re excited that this affiliation and link with Karen and the team at Redlynch Central Sports Stadium will offer more opportunities not only for the Cairns community, but particularly for our clubs and members.”
