MILLAA MILLAA GOLF

Oh what a difference a few days make. A 4BBB sponsored by Malanda Meat Co and, unlike last week, it was an absolutely perfect day.

There was a little confusion about how to do a stroke 4BBB and in hindsight I should have just had Stableford not stroke. However, either way, the position of the placegetters would not have changed. Our visitor Dave Morrison was the one who knew the scoring system well.

Three pairs finished with 64 strokes, so places were decided on the second nine and the best of these with 29 was Mark Twomey and David Gibson, only 2 strokes behind them was David Welch and Wayne Norris, in third place with 32 on the back nine was Gary Sinclair and Shane Soper.

It is interesting to note not one of the 11 teams today had more than a 70 for the 18 holes, a pretty good standard of golf I reckon.

The nearest to the pins went to Ross Ellen on 1/10, Bruce Hunter was nearest on 5/14 and our visitor Dave Morrison was second shot nearest on 3/12. (I got the markers out this week)

Enough tickets were sold to have four draws in the raffle and the winners were Warwick Howarth, Reg Dwyer, Ray Marsh and Ross’s lucky number 68 finally came out. Bad luck Happy (Alan Hapgood) number 46 was drawn in the member’s draw and you know who that belongs to.

Just News: There was a huge turn out to farewell our life member and mate Kev Stinson, most came back to the club for the wake.
