INNISFAIL

Some dodgy weather this weekend and rain will definitely affect play today. Let’s hope we can get out to play tomorrow.

The returfed area on the eighth green is settling in and the grass is starting to grow as planned. Time will tell how good it will be.

The areas have been marked GUR and players can take free relief no closer the hole, if you are chipping or putting through the GUR. We have had Billy helping our grounds crew for the last 4 weeks. Billy is on a return to work program with Work Cover and learning new skills every day.

Billy is on an eight week program and his duties include mowing, whipper snipping, tree pruning, turf cutting, running the bar and much more.

Members, if you see Billy at the bar over the next few weeks, make sure you say thanks for his efforts. Our Peninsula Golf Juniors were busy cooking up a storm, washing cars and golf carts for some very happy customers over the last few months to raise funds. Congratulations to the lucky winners of our $2 number board, Easter raffle, the $5 number board and the Mother’s Day Raffle. $2 number board - Michael Mair Easter Raffle - Lindy $5 number board - Sue Edwards Mother’s Day Raffle – 1st prize Deb Smith, 2nd prize Helen, 3rd prize Shirley

Thank you to Scott from Woolworths Innisfail, the Jagad’s Cafe & The Deep Anchor Restaurant, Innisfail RSL and the Innisfail Golf Club for your support.

Thank you to everyone who has purchased tickets, sausages and had their car or buggies washed.

MILLAA MILLAA

Numbers were down for the first W. G. C Lawyers Sponsored Stableford for 2023, however as it was Mother's Day and the weather looked a little off initially so no notes will be required. Welcome to Di Dray who decided to give a competition day a go. Numbers may have been down but Stableford point scores were up, the best of these with a 79 off the stick and 39 points was Alan Happy Hapgood, nice round of golf.

In second was my playing partner for the day Don McHardie whose last three holes were a bit ordinary but he still had an 80 off the stick for 38 points.

Only a little behind the first two in third place was Paul Foster who finished with 36 Stableford points.

Nearest to the pins went to Bob Collyer on 1/10, Graham Murray was nearest on 5/15 and both

Alan Hapgood’s second shots on 3/12 found the green and one of them won him, second shot nearest for that hole.

Only enough tickets for us to have four draws in the raffle and the winners were Kelvin Groves, Di Dray and her husband won twice. In the members draw Alan (Very Happy) Hapgood picked up $50 just to round his day off nicely. Next week is Malanda Bakery sponsored 4BBB STABLEFORD pick your own team.

Just News: A huge thanks to Jaden Venze for the welding work that he did on the fairway slasher, she is now good for another 10 years, hopefully we will soon hear if we are successful in the grant application for the new tractor to pull it.
