Hunt down Easter fun

-

IT IS almost that time again — where children hunt through the garden for chocolate eggs, we wake to the smell of toasted hot-cross buns, and everyone puts up their feet to enjoy a well-earned break.

This Easter break, make sure to put some time aside to do absolutely nothing, and just relax.

However, once you have wound down, there are plenty of activities promising fun in our local region.

The undoubted headliner is Toowoomba’s own Easterfest, in which Queens Park is transformed into a hive of activity and music.

The all ages event has a stellar lineup of artists, including New Zealand outfit Evermore, whose debut album Dreams roared up the charts in 2004, and last year’s X-Factor sensation, Dami Im.

With performers covering rock, jazz, country, hip hop and every other genre in between, there is something for everyone at Easterfest.

For tickets, performer listing and links to the other activities on offer at the event visit www.easterfest.com.au.

To put some fun into the kids’ break on a large scale, why not consider the annual Jondaryan Woolshed’s giant Easter egg muster on Easter Saturday.

An army of children combing a field for the brightly coloured eggs is sure to put a smile on the family’s face.

Families can register in advance or simply turn up on the day from 9am to participate.

For something different, the Highfields Easter Vintage Festival will again put on its three day event to give visitors a rare glimpse into yesteryear.

With a theme of 'let's go back to the olden days’, visitors to the Highfields Pioneer Village have the chance to milk a cow, test their skills at cracking a whip or try their hand at blacksmithing.
