Taylor Made experiments with three high-scoring varietals

THREE different varietals make up Taylors Wines’ new Taylor Made range: the winery’s first malbec, a resurging pinot noir rose, and a chardonnay.

Leading the range is a 2015 Taylor Made Malbec, a varietal synonymous with Argentina. This is Taylors’ first straight malbec, which found excellent growing conditions in South Australia’s Clare Valley.

The wine is full of dark fruit characters and a hint of plum with enhanced chocolate and spice characters, influenced by American Oak.

The crisp pinot noir rose is crafted in the vibrant Provence style giving it the versatility to enjoy on a long summer’s day, or with light dishes.

With flavoursome red fruits and crisp acidity it can be used as a base for refreshing Frose, or paired with an antipasto platter.

Rounding off the range is a tropical 2016 Adelaide Hills chardonnay made using French Oak barrels, giving it subtle nut characters to support its fresh citrus and stone fruit flavours.

This result is an ideal match with the traditional Sunday roast chicken.

Taylors third-generation winemaker and managing director Mitchell Taylor said the new range represented the family’s dedication to crafting wine people loved while exploring different varieties and styles.

“Like any craft, we’ve brought a lot of care and attention to every detail in bringing these wines to life,” Mitchell said.

2016 Taylor Made Chardonnay $28. Rating: 92/100. 2015 Taylor Made Malbec $28. Rating: 94/100. 2016 Taylor Made Pinot Noir Rose $28. Rating: 93/100.
