Outpouring of support for surrogate search

-

AFTER 17 rounds of IVF and more than $100,000, Australian couple John and Hannah* have been told their only chance of becoming parents is through surrogacy.

The 37-year-olds now face the uncertain journey of trying to find a surrogate to make their dream of becoming parents come true.

Hannah said they have received several emails, which never in their “wildest dreams” did they expect.

And our Facebook pages were inundated with amazingly generous offers and messages of support.

Julie McElligott wrote: “I have been blessed with five healthy children and have always thought how nice it would be to give someone the gift of life that were not as lucky as me. If age didn’t matter I would do it.”

Katharine Elston said: “As someone who is also searching for a surrogate I feel their pain. Unfortunately the Australian Government makes it hard as well as expensive for the intended parents. Wishing them all the best on their search for a happily ever after.”

Indie Rose Norris wrote: “I would absolutely love to help give a family a child!”

Jemma Phillis said: “I’d love to do that for couples but there are so many things to go through to even be considered ... such a shame it isn’t easier for people to give other people the chance to have a baby.”

Molly Veronica said: “I would do it. I have been blessed with two healthy children and would love to help others.”

Rache L Whant wrote: “I would do it for anyone who couldn’t have a baby, I would also like adoption laws for children in care to be changed to if a child is in care for three years they are able to be adopted so that option was also more accessible.”

Brooke-lee Toon said: “I’ve always wanted to be a surrogate for someone. I think it would be the most amazing gift to be able give someone a beautiful baby.”
