TOOWOOMBA’s newest market is more than just a market, with Bites and Beats introducing a food, music and shopping event to the CBD.

About 50 stalls will pack Frogs Hollow in Queens Park tomorrow for Bites and Beats, organised by The Original Mix.

Event coordinator Amie Johnson said they wanted to bring something different to Toowoomba, that had something for the whole family.

“What we are trying to do is highlight emerging talent, artists and musicians in Toowoomba using a platform that is different than being in a cafe or park,” Ms Johnson said.

“There are plans to grow it and do a bigger event.

“We have chosen Queens Park because it is a really nice outdoor location where you can sit down, eat dinner and listen to music.”

The Original Mix hosted Festive Twilight Markets at the end of last year which was a success.

That market will be held

again at the end of this year, but will also be known as Bites and Beats to make it a bi-annual event.

“There will be a $2 cover charge supporting a local community group, which this time will be Canvas Coworking,” she said.

Visitors to Bites and Beats can bring along a picnic blanket and enjoy a feed on the lawn from the local market stalls.

There will also be a

designer market alley that will feature quality boutique, handmade and artisan products as well as games and original live music from Sue Ray, The Beamish Boys and Kent Tonscheck.

Bites and Beats will be held in Frogs Hollow, Queens Park this Saturday from 4pm to 9pm, all ages are welcome.
