Stories abound in USQ’s book
University of Southern Queensland: 50 Years 50 Stories book launch
THE University of Southern Queensland has been a part of Chancellor John Dornbusch’s life ever since he stepped foot on campus as a student in 1972.
His story is just one of the many profiled in University of Southern Queensland: 50 Years 50 Stories, a coffee-table book created to celebrate USQ’s 50th year as a higher education institution and 25th year as a university.
It features the stories of a diverse-cross section of USQ alumni, whose memories and experiences provide a snapshot of the institute’s history, achievements and milestones.
More than 300 guests, including university alumni and staff and members of the local community came together on Friday for the launch, which was held at USQ Toowoomba.
Guest speaker Kathryn Cambell, a Conspicuous Service Cross recipient, was also profiled in the book.
“To read about the stories of other USQ graduates and to see so many members of the USQ and wider community coming together to celebrate USQ’s 50/25 year is truly amazing,” Mr Dornbusch said.
The book is one element of a year of celebration, with other international and domestic 50/25 events being held throughout 2017.
The USQ Anniversary Dinner Celebration will be held on Friday, July 7 and headline acts include cabaret sensation Bethan Ellsmore and Australian comedy legends, Tripod. Tickets are available at usq.edu.au/50-25/events.
USQ: 50 Years 50 Stories is $39.95 and can be purchased from Omnia Books and Beyond online at usq.edu.au/50-25.
