Green stars as ‘Roos down Tigers

AUSTRALIAN RULES: Adam Green kicked eight goals as Coolaroo made it two-straight wins to start the AFL Darling Downs season.

Coolaroo downed first round winners Toowoomba Tigers a 16.17 (113) to 8.6 (54) at Rockville Park on Saturday to sit undefeated alongside defending premier University.

The ‘Roos kept Tigers goal-less in the first term to get out to a 26-point lead before they went on with the job.

Green was at his dangerous best in slotted an impressive eight goals in a best-on-ground

performanc­e.

Coolaroo sits top of the table with Uni after the Cougars beat South Burnett 19.22 (136) to 6.1 (37) at USQ.

Samuel Cooper and Ryan Colclough kicked five goals each for Uni in the strong win.

Meanwhile, Goondiwind­i finished over the top of a gallant South Toowoomba line-up at Riddles Oval.

Souths had only 16 players but led the Hawks by 11 points at the final change in

what was a gutsy effort.

Goondiwind­i pushed in the final quarter and finished over the top of the under-strength visitors with seven goals in the last stanza to prevail 17.6 (108) to 13.12 (90).

In women’s action, Toowoomba Tigers dominated Dalby in their 23.21 (159) to 0.0 (0) victory at Rockville Park.

Emily Hewitt was on song and kicked an incredible 11 goals for Tigers in the win.
