A MAN accused of driving stolen cars and evading police interceptions on Toowoomba streets earlier this year has had charges against him mentioned again before the city’s Magistrates Court.

Jesse Lee Jenkins was not in court for the mention of his matters and remains in custody while on remand.

His solicitor Claire Graham (Bouchier Khan Lawyers) told the court the defence had been waiting for some police material and, having received that material earlier in the morning, she would have to go through it with her client and take further instructions.

Jenkins, 24, has not been required to enter any pleas to 22 charges including five counts of failing to stop the car he was driving on police direction, two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, acts intended to resist lawful arrest or detention, unlawfully using motor vehicles, disqualified driving, serious assault of police, wilful damage, trespassing and arson of a motor vehicle.

Police accuse Jenkins and a co-accused of torching a vehicle outside of Toowoomba on the night of Friday, March 17.

There being no application for bail on Jenkins behalf, Magistrate Kay Ryan further remanded him in custody and adjourned all charges for committal mention back in the same court on June 21.

Jenkins will not be required to appear in court on that date or appear by video link from the prison.
