TOOWOOMBA ballet students will have the opportunity of a lifetime this July school holidays.

International ballerina Elena Chebotar is flying into Australia for three days and will only visit the Garden City.

Outrageously qualified and a talented classical technician, Ms Chebotar has danced internationally with the Vaganova Ballet Academy, the Mariinsky Theatre, the Russian Ballet Theatre and the St Petersburg Theatre.

She contacted RaDiANCE Academy Toowoomba director Sally Andrews after seeing her call-out for more teachers at the dance studio.

“Elena is all about raising the standard of professional ballerinas in the workforce,” Ms Andrews said.

“So we’re excited for her to come over and guest teach. Anyone doing classical ballet in Toowoomba should be involved.

“As a regional space, kids don’t often get this opportunity.”

Ms Chebotar will host workshops from July 3-5 for students from ages three and up.

Her classes will include classical technique, variations, contemporary and pointe work.

Ms Andrews said the workshops would be open to students from any dance studio across the region.

“I’ve never been to or seen a workshop with a guest teacher like this before,” she said.

Ms Chebotar has taught dance at the theatres mentioned earlier as well as the American Ballet Conservatory, International Conferences and the Ministry of Education and Culture in New Delhi.

She has also published many works on teaching methods, pedagogy and is a PHD qualified ballet teacher.

Class sizes will be limited so students are encouraged to book early.
