Dalby duo in squad

There is double the delight for Dalby after the naming of the Queensland Rangers team.

Dalby duo Jason Wardrop and Steve Franciscus, along with Wattles halfback Matt Duggan have been named in the Rangers team to take on the New South Wales Ron Massey Cup team in an interstate clash at the Gold Coast on June 25.

Former Toowoomba talent Haydan Lipp was also picked in the Rangers squad.

All four were part of the victorious Central Division squad at last weekend’s QRL Divisional Championship on the Gold Coast.

Wardrop and Franciscus are back in the Rangers squad after playing last year.

Their selection is not only a reward personally for the players, but also to their Dalby squad which has made an unbeaten start to the Hutchinson Builders TRL Premiership.

And it is truly a happy occasion for the Diehards as they will not be without their two stars for an upcoming game.

The Queensland Rangers will play on June 25, with the Diehards having a bye in the TRL that weekend.

Rangers selection is also a happy honour for Duggan as his selection caps the realisation of long-held goal.

It has been a tough couple of seasons for Duggan as he missed all of last season after knee surgery and has also spent plenty of time on the sideline already this year through injury.

“I set a goal more than two years ago to make the Rangers team,” he said.

“I had to pull out of the Central Division team in 2015 with injury and missed last year with injury so it is great to make the side.”

This is Duggan’s first state selection at any level.
