THE Original Mix is hosting its monthly food market in the Toowoomba CBD tonight.

Dine Down Town will be held on the grass of St Lukes Church from 5pm to 8pm and will incorporate the unique flavours of Toowoomba’s food industry.

Event coordinator Amie Johnson said the market gave people an experience they wouldn’t be able to find anywhere else in Toowoomba.

“We have about 20 food and drink vendors and we mix it up every month so there is always a different assortment of food on offer,” she said.

“This month we will be focusing on a winter theme and the vendors will be selling things like meat pies, curries and things like that.”

Toowoomba’s musical talent will also be on show with local acts providing entertainment during the evening.

“We’ve got local musicians performing as well so it’s a bit of a relaxed dining night out,” Mrs Johnson said.

“There will be a lovely grass area there so people can bring their picnic blanket and listen to the music while they eat their food.”

The event will have a $2 entry fee which will be donated to St Luke’s Church to assist it in upkeeping heritage-listed buildings.

Mrs Johnson said the event was inspired by street food markets in bigger cities.

“We are targeting the street food scene like what’s happening in Brisbane and the Gold Coast and we are trying to bring that to Toowoomba,” she said.

“There will also be a kids corner where we have arts and crafts, drawing and playdough to keep them having fun.”

The Orginal Mix is also planning other events this year including a beer and barbecue festival in November.
