NBN connects to Pittsworth

-

AROUND 1000 Pittsworth premises have been activated using the NBN Fibre to the Node network.

Member for Groom John McVeigh urged residents to keep an eye out in the mail for a letter from NBN outlining all of the information they will need ahead of making the switch to NBN.

“You can also check your address on the NBN website at www.nbn.com.au/check to find out if services are available at your home or business,” Dr McVeigh said.

“Once your premises are ready for services to be connected you will be able to access a list of the available providers in your area to assist with choosing the right NBN provider and plan for you,” he said.

He said residents should understand switching to NBN is not automatic.

“If you choose not to move to the NBN network, affected landline phone and internet services will stop working once the existing network is switched off at your home or business — 18 months after the ABN is available at your premises,” he said.

Dr McVeigh said access to fast broadband through the NBN is designed to provide a range of benefits for homes and businesses such as improved opportunities to work from home, better access to online education tools and more options for on-demand entertainment.

“High-speed broadband is the essential infrastructure of the 21st Century, and the NBN will provide the platform to deliver a range of economic and social benefits to residents in Pittsworth,” he said.

“Businesses will also be more productive as the NBN enables access to new online services like cloud-based accounting software.

“Students will be able to participate in learning from their classroom or at home. And mums and dads will be able to take care of tasks like accessing government services or paying bills.”
