Big Downs presence for Heelers

- Michael Doyle DALBY HERALD

Toowoomba trainer Matt Kropp will be looking for a little bit of fortune as Dazzle Em Sid tackles Group One level for the first time.

Dazzle Em Sid will run in tomorrow’s $600,000 Group One Channel Seven Queensland Derby (2200m)at Doomben.

The three-year-old has been listed as a $51 long shot for the Winter Carnival feature race that has been moved from Eagle Farm due to track issues.

Kropp said he will hope for some good luck in what is certain to be the toughest test of the gelding’s career thus far.

“He (Dazzle Em Sid) is going to need his fair share of luck that is for sure,” Kropp said.

“He will have the blinkers on him for the first time so hopefully that will help him coming down to 2200m.”

Dazzle Em Sid finished fifth in his last start in the Group Three Grand Prix Stakes at Eagle Farm on May 27, and won three starts back over 2237 metres on a soft Eagle Farm track.

Kropp said he hopes the minor chance of rain forecast to eventuate before the race.
