TOOWOOMBA CATTLE
Numbers were reduced by 30% and a fair panel of buyers was present, however not all were operating.
A good sample of young cattle was penned along with a relatively small selection of heavy grown steers and bullocks and a fair sample of cows.
Young lightweight yearling steers returning to the paddock continued to receive very strong support.
Medium weight yearling steers to feed for the domestic market improved in price while a very short supply of heavyweight yearling steers to feed sold to a cheaper trend.
A lift in the quality of the good heavy cows saw average prices improve by around 6c/kg.
Steer calves returning to the paddock made to 396.2c with most of the mixed sex calves making 367c/kg.
A couple of standout vealer made to 530.2c/kg.
Lightweight yearling steers mostly sold to restockers at an average of 372c with some to 392.2c/kg.
Medium weight yearling steers to feed made to 355c to average 342c and a handful of heavyweights made to 329.2c to average close to 316c/kg.
Lightweight yearling heifers to feed averaged 327c and some to restockers made to 346.2c/kg.
Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 306c and made to 321.2c while those to the trade averaged 309c and made to 325.2c/kg.
A small sample of heavyweights to feed averaged 283c and a couple to the trade made to 305.2c/kg.
Heavy grown steers made to 293.2c to average 288c and a handful of bullocks made to 280.2c/kg.
Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 212c and the best of the medium weights made to 239.2c to average 234c/kg.
Good heavy cows made to 247.2c with a fair amount around 244c/kg. Heavy bulls made to 280.2c/kg.
WARWICK CATTLE
Numbers remained very close to the previous week’s level and young cattle were in the largest numbers, with only a handful of heavy grown steers and bullocks penned along with a good selection of cows.
The full group of export buyers were in attendance and most were operating, while some of the regular buyers in the young cattle section were absent.
Lightweight yearling steers to restockers generally sold to a strong market however buyers were selective in places in the heifer portion.
Medium and heavyweight yearling steers and heifers to feed improved in price.
All classes of cows lifted in price with improvements of 7-14c/kg.
Steer calves returning to the paddock made to 397.2c with mixed sex calves around 360c/kg.
Lightweight yearling steers sold to restockers at an average of 372c with sales to 399.2c/kg.
Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged 344c and made to 363.2c/kg.
Heavyweight yearling steers to feed sold around 326c with the occasional sale to 335c/kg.
Lightweight yearling heifers to restockers averaged 326c and made to 341.2c/kg.
Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 324c and made to 332c and a handful to the trade made to 327.2c/kg.
The occasional pen of well-bred classes sold to restockers at 369.2c/kg.

ROMA STORE
There was a yarding of 8029 head at this week’s Roma Store Sale, down 560 head on last week.
All buyers were present and operating with additional restockers in attendance competing in a slightly easier market due to quality.
The majority of the yarding were weaners and unlike last week there were twice as many steers as there were heifers.
Calves under 200kg topped at 438.2c to average 394c/kg.
Steers in the 220-280kg range made to a top of 402.2c to average 371c/kg.
Steers 280-350kg topped the sale making to 386.2c to average 347c, while the heavyweights 350-400kg to feedlotters made to 373.2c to average 329c/kg.
Plenty of 400-550kg steers made to a top of 342.2c to average 320c/kg.
Steers over 550kg made to a top of 293.2c to average 287c/kg.
Weaner bulls made to 388.2c and bulls 400-600kg topped at 292.2c to average 278c/kg.
The majority of heifers were in the 220-280kg range topping at 366.2c to average 340c/kg.
Two score cows made to a top of 190c and cows 400-520kg range made to a top of 240c with heavy cows to slaughter making a top of 254.2c and good strong young PTIC cows returning to the paddock made 284.2c/kg.
GYMPIE CATTLE
A good quality yarding of 1839 cattle at Sullivan Livestock’s Gympie Sale saw the market dearer for all descriptions.
Cattle were drawn from Gin Gin, Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, Childers, Maryborough, Aramara, Kilkivan, Tansey, Woolooga, Maleny,
Kenilworth, Eumundi and all local areas.
Droughtmaster steers from Kybong sold for $3.23 to return $1594.
The Paton Family sold Droughtmaster cross steers for $3.23 or $1414.
Charbray cross steers from T& E Pike, Wonga made $3.24 ($1562) and $3.35 ($1255).
Limousin cross steers from the Tanzer Family made $3.26 ($1472).
Charbray steers from Bill Jamieson, Tiaro sold for $3.33 ($1281).
While their Droughtmaster cross brothers made $3.49 ($1297).
Droughtmaster steers from Payne and Birt, Scotchy Pocket sold for $3.41 to return $1323.
Droughtmaster steers from The Kopp Family, Widgee made $3.73 ($1364 and $1221).
Brangus steers from Chris and Michelle Dale, Tiaro sold for $3.56 to return $1153.
There was a very good line up of weaners, with Charbray steers from Rowan and Ashley Kahler, Goomong selling for $3.75 to return $1195.
Simmental cross steers from Pat and Melissa Kelly, Cinnabar made $3.81 ($1176 and $1128).
Droughtmaster steers from Dawn Findlay, Gunalda made $3.79 ($1011).
Droughtmaster steers from Neville Bird and Family, Langshaw made $3.85 ($1020 and $992).

Quality Droughtmaster heifers from A. Templeton and Son, Eumundi sold for $3.27 to return $1079.
Charbray cross weaner heifers from Pat and Melissa Kelly made $3.24 ($880).
Brahman cross heifers from the McSweeny Family sold for $3.21 ($795).
Charbray heifers from Rowan and Ashley Kahler made $3.21 ($891).
Neville Bird and Family’s Droughtmaster heifers made $3.19 to return $752 and $721.
Limousin cross heifers from Ian and Sharon Brown, Thinoomba made $3.16 or $725.
Overall, good conditioned vealer heifers sold from $3.05 to $3.24.
Store heifers sold from $2.92 to $3.35 pending quality.
Cows and calves were very limited in supply and sold to a top of $1900 from Droughtmaster Cows and Calves from Mandaha Pty Ltd, Cooroy.
Next sale is a meatworks and store sale on Monday, June 19.
MORETON CATTLE
Agents Boyd, O’Brien Bartholomew reported a yarding of 544 head of cattle at Moreton on Tuesday.
Young cattle met strong competition and sold accordingly.
All cattle returning to paddocks or to feedlots were sought after and sold very well.
Trade cattle improved. Export cattle sold well with rates similar to last week.
Yearling heifers account K Busteed, Tallegalla sold for 321.2c/kg weighing 302.5kg to return $971.
GRK Millewski, Minden sold Droughtmaster weaner steers for 341.2c/kg weighing 300kg to return $1023.

DALBY CATTLE
Numbers lifted by close to 500 head and buyer attendance across all classes at last week’s sale was good and most were operating in a generally dearer market.
A lift in the quality of the lightweight yearling steers returning to the paddock resulted in average prices improving by 7c/kg.
Medium weight yearling steers to feed gained 4-7c/kg while heavyweights to feed experienced very little change.
Lightweight yearling heifers to restockers and backgrounders sold to a firm market while the medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 10c/kg dearer.
A relatively small sample of bullocks averaged 4c/kg better.
A large number of cows were penned and sold to a market 7-10c/kg dearer.
Steer calves returning to the paddock made to 436.2c with mixed sex calves averaging 379c/kg.
Vealer heifers averaged close to 340c and made to 348.2c/kg.
