Bus service

-

JUNE 19 is the advertised start of the new Toowoomba bus network.

I have studied the on-line time tables now available and feel disappointed the changes do not give the advantages previously advertised. For example only part of Toowoomba, mainly North Toowoomba, will get Sunday bus services.

I currently use services four and five and these will continue to run as the 904 and 906 from Monday to Saturday. With the changes I am not happy because the 904 will finish at the bus station and no longer go to Clifford Gardens and the hospital.

This will mean changing to another bus, most times on another platform, and could mean delays.

The 906 service will end at the Toowoomba Plaza with the return trip to the bus station taking some seven to eight minutes longer because of the extra part of the route cut out to USQ and going past the Ridge Shopping Centre.

The 904 will take extra time to get to the bus station as it will take a loop down Victoria St before going to the bus station.

Some bus stops will be removed meaning extra walking. These include the existing Grand Central Stop, Market Plaza and the Sportsman’s Club, to name a few.

We have challenges ahead; some of us will find this hard.

It is important we get as much information as we can. It could be a good idea to make sure we are at our stops early.

It could also be worthwhile to get daily or Rover tickets so we can change bus to continue our journey.

I hope this letter may help other people who actually use a bus as this service can only have been designed by someone who does not. — RALPH LEE, South Toowoomba
