TOOWOOMBA MAN'S BIG LOTTO WIN

Lotto winner bought ticket from Oakey Newsagency

A TOOWOOMBA man’s heart was sent racing after he became a millionaire at the weekend.

The man, who wished to remain anonymous, is now $1.3 million richer after he was one of three division one winners in Saturday’s Gold Lotto draw.

He bought a 50-game QuickPick entry at Oakey Newsagency and was the only winner from Queensland.

The man, described as hard-working, confessed his heart had been “jumping all around the countryside” since he discovered he was a winner.

The man told a Golden Casket official that he had initially forgotten all about the entry, but finally checked it yesterday.

“It’s just awesome,” he said.

“It’s unreal. I couldn’t sleep last night. Oh my god.

“I’ll put my heart back in its place now. It’s been jumping around all over the countryside.”

The man said he would use his total of $1.3 million in winnings to plan his retirement, help his family and fulfil his long-held dream of travelling around Australia.

“It’s worked out really well,” he said.

“It’s going to relieve a lot of financial pressure and it will be great just no having to worry about money.

“I can look forward to having a retirement now.”

Oakey Newsagency owner Sandra Pott said she was thrilled the winner had come forward to claim his prize, which is the second division one winning ticket for the store – with one sold about two years ago.

“We’re stoked to sell another division one winning ticket. We’re just over the moon,” she said.

The six winning lotto numbers were 14, 24, 44, 22, 12 and 20. The supplementary numbers were 32 and 6.
