After-hours service’s big win

House Call Doctor treats 30,000 residents

-

MORE doctors and shorter wait times led to Toowoomba’s House Call Doctor service dominating the company’s state awards.

Toowoomba House Call Doctor area manager Adam Bruggemann and his team of doctors and chaperones achieved some of the highest patient satisfaction ratings in Queensland.

The after-hours medical service sends doctors to people’s homes to treat them when their regular GP is closed at night and on weekends.

Since launching in Toowoomba in July 2015, House Call Doctor treated nearly 30,000 people across the Garden City.

Mr Bruggemann, who helped build the Toowoomba team, walked away from the major House

Call Doctor State Awards in Brisbane with top accolades for doctor recruitment and patient satisfaction.

“We work really hard to make sure patients are seen as quickly as possible and that is really important to me, to our doctors and everyone in the team from the call centre operators through to the chaperones,” he said.

“We keep in contact with them so they know how soon the doctor will be there.”

House Call Doctor chief operating officer Craig Glover said in Toowoomba only two per cent of patients rang asking for an estimated time of arrival.

“We know when you’re sick you don’t want to be left waiting so we keep our patients updated and Adam and his team in Toowoomba are clearly doing an exceptional job at that judging by the patient satisfaction reports we get,” he said.

Mr Bruggemann also received a marketing award with House Call Doctor.

House Call Doctor treats patients in their homes after 6pm every week night and from noon on Saturdays to 8am on Mondays.
