IT COULD be said that Craig Trudgett is a “born-and-bread” baker.

Mr Trudgett confesses he is passionate about baking and he has been involved in the business his loves for almost 20 years.

Now, he and his wife Carla have taken that passion one step further and opened their own baking business CC’s on The Range Bakehouse in the Range Shopping Centre.

The couple moved from Charleville to Toowoomba for the education of their three children and they have settled into the Garden City.

“Craig has been baking since he was 17 and he’s passionate about it so we thought we’d have a crack,” Mrs Trudgett explained.

“It’s the first time we’ve worked together but it’s been good.

“We’ve been doing a bit of tag team with Craig baking at night and I come into the shop during the day.

“All the baking is done on site and Craig has been doing 15 hour days but the shop has been well received.

“It’s a busy shopping centre and it has a lot to offer.

“The centre is beautiful and the people are really friendly.”

All of the shop’s offerings are baked fresh daily as are the salads and sandwiches.

“The bread of course is popular but so have the pies and especially our vanilla slices are really popular,” Mrs Trudgett said.

While the bakery faces James St, there is a second section of the shop that faces into the shopping centre which will eventually house a coffee shop in the coming months.

“We will be opening the coffee shop soon but at the moment we’re just getting the bakery side of things going,” she said.

“We’ve only just opened and it’s been hectic but good just the same. We’ve had some good feedback.

“We open from 6am to 5pm Monday to Friday and from 7am to 1-2pm on Saturday.

“Sunday is our family time... it’s the only time we can all be together.”
