Top attraction celebrates 20 amazing years

IT HAS been 20 years since the Empire Theatre reopened.

I don’t think you ever get over that feeling when you step inside that gorgeous venue.

I am blown away every time. My first experience of the Empire was back when I was a student at USQ and we would take part in the annual Shoot Out film competition.

The best films would be shown on the big screen and it was an amazing experience to take part in.

We are so lucky to have such a gorgeous theatre and even more so the amazing range of performers and shows that are put on.

I have interviewed several comedians and performers before they tour our city and I am always so pleased when they tell me they love performing at the Empire or that it is the one thing they are looking forward to the most.

The Chronicle staff was discussing favourite moments at the Empire over the last 20 years and it is really hard to pick just one.

My favourite musical performances have been by Missy Higgins, James Morrison and Paul Kelly.

My favourite musical theatre moment was definitely Wicked this year.

My favourite comedians were Danny Bhoy and Jimeoin.

And as for other events, Cosentino the magician and the Rockwiz Tour were simply amazing.

We are so lucky to have this gorgeous theatre and I cannot wait to see what the future events hold.
