Jersey winner announced at auction

-

ITHINK Property hosted another unique Under the Stars auction event in Walton Stores on Friday, June 24.

Six properties went to auction, with one sold prior and a number of bidders on other properties.

iThink property sales agent Matt Hawkins started the initiative to raise money for the Mark Hughes Foundation by raffling off a signed Queensland State of Origin jersey, with the whole iThink team getting behind the initiative.

Beanies for Brain Cancer Awareness Week was June 19 to 23, which was why the raffle was run in conjunction with the auction night.

The iThink team raised more than $1600 for the Mark Hughes Foundation with Robyn Prenzler Wilson drawn as the winner.

The money raised will now be used to fund vital brain cancer research, and to support patients and families suffering from the horrible disease.

Mr Hawkins said he chose the Mark Hughes Foundation after learning about the small amount of funding brain cancer research receives from the government.

“Some of the statistics in relation to brain cancer and its victims are really confronting,” he said.

“I am a big supporter of the National Rugby League and to see all the fans nationwide really get behind the Beanies for Brain Cancer round a couple of weeks ago just got me thinking, what can I do to help?

”I purchased the signed Queensland jersey a couple of years ago at a charity auction and obviously with the State of Origin season upon us I thought I could really capture a good size audience and raise some money for a great charity.”
