Leading the way in store

-

Kylie Menkins

I AM the team leader in electrical.

I have been at Myer 10 years this week and I have always been in Toowoomba.

Before this I was in photographics, so I had a bit of an interest in cameras. But things have moved along a little bit into the iPhone technology, so that is probably my main interest.

I am the Apple expert in the electronics area.

I love some of the elderly customers who come in and being able to help them out and show them how technology could work for them.

I think my favourite product that has come out is the Apple Watch. I couldn’t live without mine.

When I am not at work I enjoy going to some of the new cafes in town. I also love going to the Empire Theatre and going to the movies with friends. My favourite cafe at the moment would be Junk.

I WORK in Basque, in ladies fashion, and I have been here for about eight years.

This was actually my first job after being a stay-at-home mum and decided I wanted to do something for me. I loved it and have been here ever since.

I used to love coming into Myer. My oldest daughter, at the time, worked at City Beach and we lived at Highfields, so I would come in and it wasn’t worth going back so I would stay and just browse around. I would always end up in Myer. I thought I would love to work here and that is how it all started.

I just love the people here. Now that I have been here so long they are like my second family.

When I am not here I love gardening and catching up with family.

I WORK in service support at the Myer hub, so sort of like a go-to customer service.

I have worked here for almost four years. I started as a Christmas casual and I just kept working away until I got to where I am now.

I love looking after the store. It is great doing all the little services for customers and just helping them through their problems.

When I am not at work I like watching movies. I am a bit of a movie connoisseur. I go out and see movies all the time with friends.

I watch all sort of movies from your big blockbusters to small independent films.

I have also been playing a lot of table tennis at the moment. I am looking at signing up to the local club this season.

I WORK in visual merchandising and stock merchandising.

That entails making the store look as beautiful as we can.

I have only been in that role for about 12 months but I have been with the company for 16 years, always in Toowoomba.

In that time I have definitely seen some changes. I think we are moving with the times (with the Grand Central development) and it is for our future and growth.

I think we have probably benefited a little bit because there is more traffic in the centre. We were pretty excited with the whole thing opening.

I love everything about my job. It is so exciting when you build a display and next minute there are all sorts of bits and pieces taken off it.

To get ideas we look at other Myer stores, even fashion magazines and other stores in the centre.

When I am not here I am with my husband and three children and I enjoy gardening.
